Is God Real? Yes – and This is Why I Believe

Is-God-Real

Is God real? I woke up this morning with that question on my mind and had to write about it. But first, let me explain why I had the question in the first place.

Last night, I was working on submitting my latest book “My God is Awesome” to Amazon for approval for inclusion into their system. I was searching for keywords to include in my description and I used a software tool for ideas.

The software returned this phrase as one people search for:

is god real

Just imagine: People are searching for an answer to that question online. So I’m going to answer it the best way I know how.

I’ll explain some reasons why I believe: Yes, God is Real.

Romans 1:20 says of God,

“For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even His eternal power and Godhead, so that they are without excuse (NKJV),”

Many people say they don’t believe in God because they can’t see Him; However we believe in things we can’t see all the time: the wind, the law of Gravity, and atoms just to name a few. The reason we believe in those things is because we can see the effects of them.

We know that each effect must have a cause, so when we see leaves blowing, a ball falling to the ground, or an atomic bomb exploding, then we believe that the wind, gravity, and atoms were either part of the cause or all of it.

So we too can see the effects of God in our world. One of God’s character traits is Creator. Here is how I see that:

  • A hand: Just hold your hand up and move all fingers. Do you see how beautiful that movement is? It’s poetry in motion. It takes bones, muscles, and ligaments to accomplish such a movement. Now just rub your thumb against your forefinger. Now you are feeling the effects of the nerves in your fingers.

Man has not created anything to compare with the human hand’s splendor. Take a look at your hand again. Do you believe that the human hand came together randomly? I don’t. It was beautifully designed for a purpose. By extension, so was mankind. Each of us was given talents, gifts, and abilities to glorify the God who created us.

But the God who created us also gave us the ability to choose. So an intellectual giant (according to man’s standards) can use the intellect, thought capacity, and vocal cords that God gave Him to either thank God for his abilities or declare to others that there is no God.

  • The Heavens and Earth: Now, just look at the sky. Whether you are observing the sun, moon, stars, rain, or cloud, you are seeing God’s handiwork. Do you believe these natural elements and phenomena came together without intervention? I don’t. If that is the case, then I could just take a big lump of clay, put it on a table, and expect that to evolve into a clay bust of a historical figure. It won’t happen unless someone puts a skillful hand to that raw material, shaping, and molding it according to the artist’s vision.

I believe that everything you see on the Earth, above it, and beneath it exists because God created it. The bible says that God even put His hand into forming the first man, creating man in His image. I’d much rather believe that a loving God uniquely designed man to reflect His glory upon the Earth than man evolved randomly from an ape and is only responsible for living for himself.

  • My changed life: Everyone who knew me from 20 years ago can see the effects of God on my life now. I said the prayer to accept Jesus as my Savior back in 1991. However, for 10 years I didn’t change. I went to church yes, but I didn’t read the bible, didn’t have any personal relationship with God during the week. So my life did not change. I thought saying the prayer of salvation and going to church was all there was to becoming a disciple of Christ.

However God ended up changing my life in 2001. I went to a Christian women’s conference to which I didn’t want to go, but only did it to support a friend. It was there that I experienced God’s love and His desire for me to know Him personally. It was awesome. At the time, I was haunted by feelings of abandonment, unworthiness, and was battling an eating addiction.

But once I knew God loved me, I had a hunger to know “Who is this God?” So I started reading the bible, beginning with the book of John. I saw God in action in the person of Jesus Christ. I felt God speaking to me through the bible.

Outwardly after God helped me conquer my eating addiction, people could see the transformation because I had an 85 pound weight loss. But inwardly, I could see the transformation because I found myself loving people more. Evidence of God’s spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self control. I could see myself growing in these areas day by day, year after year. In His word, God promises in 2 Corinthians 3:18: “But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as by the Spirit of the Lord.”

That gives me great encouragement to know that as I deepen my relationship with God, then others will be able to see Him in me because I will reflect His glory!

Now you might ask: Why are those attributes not seen in some purported Christians? Great question. It is because their minds haven’t been renewed yet according to God’s word and they aren’t applying it. You see, there is a big difference in saying “I’m a Christian” to being a disciple of Christ!

People always say “The truth shall set you free” but have no idea of what truth is. Jesus defined it in John 8:31-32 “If you abide in My word, you are My disciples indeed. And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.” So living in God’s Word means living in the truth, which makes you free from sin’s bondage.

It takes time and effort to learn to understand the bible and apply its principles. Transformation takes time and everyone who is a disciple of Christ is in that process.

So if you see a disciple of Christ of whom you are thinking, “Well, they sure don’t act like it” then keep watching that person over time. You should see change because God’s power is dynamic, transformative, life changing. Sometimes that change is small and sometimes dramatic, but there should be change. If they really have accepted Jesus as their Savior and are a true disciple, learning, studying, and applying His word, then they will manifest the fruits of God’s spirit as defined above as their minds are renewed.

Anyway, that’s my answer for the “Is God real” question. My answer is yes. However,  each person eventually has to answer that question for themselves. Whether your answer is “yes” or “no,” it will determine the course of your life – both this one and your eternal life to come.

Be blessed in Health, Healing, and Wholeness,

  • God IS Real! I don’t know how else to say it!!! He is real in all his glory and power. There is no denying that God is real. Atheists are on the path to glory by choosing if they want to believe or not. And if they do, they will see God in his eternal flowering beauty. God has helped me become who I am today, I am his carving his creation made to spread the good word of his existence and you deny him? Atheists can deny that God isn’t real by saying that we never see him and the world function as if he weren’t there but there are things that scientists themselves can’t explain! Sure they can explain evolution, but can they explain evolution in intelligence? No, because God evolved us! One cannot simply give up on God because he/she doesn’t see him?

  • I just wanted to be loved and to fit in somewhere. So I set out in the world in search of that love and acceptance. I believed I could find it in certain people or maybe I could drink or drug myself so much that all in life would be ok. I should be dead as many times as I abused drugs. I have been in very abusive situations and relationships. I am still here. I reached an emotional and spiritual bottom where I did not see a way out. No one could help me. I was lost and still feeling unloved. That is when I cried out in anguish and God heard me. As I look back over my life I see where it had to be God who kept me in spite of myself. I saw how much he loved me with his indescribable love. I found that love that has been here and will always be here.

  • God is real because He hears my every prayer. I am a walking testimony of how He has delivered me through sickness, sorrow and financial woes.
He forgives me and transforms me even when I don’t deserve His Grace!!!
Through prayer, fasting and crying out to God He has delivered me time after time again bringing me through fiery trials producing much character in me. I hear His still small voice and through His Word !!! God is Real !! He is my Best Friend!!!
He never leaves me or forsaken me. It says in
Psalms 53:1 The fool hath said in his heart, There is no God….
    Jeremiah 29: 13
And you will seek Me and find Me, when you search for Me with all your heart.

Everyday is a testimony that God is real !! Just to name a few :
    1. He has delivered me from domestic violence
    2. He has healed my body
    3. He has healed my broken heart and depression and filled it with Joy !!
    4. He bless me with a very good paying job
    5. He bless me with a god fearing husband
    6. He sold my house during the crash of the housing market
    7. He found my new home on Christmas Day!! And it is bless with much fruit on the property !!
8 .He has bless me with a church home at
    Rock Springs Church Milner GA
    9. My family is growing by being bless with grandchildren
    10. He has open many doors for me to minister through music
Each one has a story behind them showing how God is Real but also how it has given God all the Glory and Praise!!!
Thank you for letting me share!!

  • One reason why I know God is real:

I take my Bible and ask Him to speak to me. I read his Word and He speaks to me. A word, a phrase, sometimes a whole chapter jumps out at me. If I have a specific problem or if a friend has asked me to pray for a particular difficulty they are going through, – I pour this out to my Heavenly Father, then I turn to His Word and He speaks to me about it. Many times it brings tears to my eyes because He cares enough to do that for me.

  • I have been a Christian almost all my life (29 now). God is so real, I have been through a lot in life but last year was the toughest year ever (see my website https://maggienimoh.com/jehovah-jireh/ for more details of what I went through with my family). If it wasn’t for The Mighty Hand of God in our lives none of us would’ve survived it. He loves me more than anyone on earth, He knows my weaknesses and shortcomings but still loves me. He is so real. Praise God!

  • For individuals who don’t know Jesus yet, these are my questions.

    1. Who creates the detailed ears we are born with or the tiny little lines on our five fingers as a newborn that we keep until our earthly death?

(I would have chosen funnels for ears and tennis rackets for hands.-Not good)

    2. If we evolved mentally and physically from an ape, why would we not continue to evolve?

(I can humbly say that I am not at the pinnacle, mentally and physically.)

    3. Why can’t our hearts ever be fully satisfied unless it’s through the Creator of our hearts?

(I knew that my life was missing something because I felt like there was a hole in my heart. Only Jesus was able to fill that void! AMEN!)

  • I know God is real because he gave me faith in Him. I was agnostic and thought unless I see proof I will never belief. I wasn’t athiest because I couldn’t prove that he didn’t exist either. I was seeking for God . He sent many people to me to explain the gospel. One time I even prayed just so they would leave me alone. I tried to read the bible but it didn’t make any sense. I still didn’t believe. But on January 17, 1987 I was invited to church and I can’t explain why but the message touched my heart. I came to the front and received Jesus as my savior and Lord. That’s when the scriptures were illuminated and every thing made sense. My life, my desires and goals and how I viewed the world changed dramatically in an instant! I am still amazed by the bible and how he still speaks to me directly and personally through His Word. The miracle I experienced was personal and not exactly visible but it was very real. The bible says in Jeremiah 29:13 “You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart. ” I didn’t know this verse at the time that is what happened to me.

  • I am especially blessed by Mary’s remark (above) “God is more real to me than any human I know and love.” It is a good reminder that no human being can meet our expectations, but GOD CAN!!
Now to the question: Is God real? I am most assured of God being real when I am out in nature. I can’t explain it, but God’s presence is so powerful as I observe a leaf tumbling to the ground in autumn, a new sprout coming out of the ground in spring, the pure whiteness of snow in winter, and waterfalls and streams rushing to their destination —all programed by God!

  • Thank you for this message. It is ironic that i just thought this today, wtih having 3 death in my life in one week. I thought is my love ones in heaven and what is they doing at this time. Then I thought is there really a God in Heaven. The thought came to me, “I rather believe.. than not to believe; then find out it is all real. I believe there is a God because I think if not with all the things I have face in my 55 yrs. I would have loss my mind. But because there is a gracious God; I am still standing and in my right mind. 🙂 Praise God!

  • There is nothing quite as “deep real” as God. Often we don’t see His heart, I think, because His picture is huge and we only see small bits. But He is for sure 100% trustworthy, even those times when it looks gloom or worse for a long time. And those times can be our dearest to look back on when we have had peace despite of, or been given to love despite of. Then we know that He is there for us and we are for His sake.

I once was taken away from my dear children and family and put under doubt about if I was a real christian or a fraud, I was not sure for a long time my self and very depressed/afraid. I could have got help from loving people with a lot of money and got my children for my self. But I wanted to do what Jesus wanted anyway. And He was 100% trustworthy. Things tok time and I used a lot of time on my knees, but He fixed every bit in His time, and took care of us all in the meantime. He is there and He is 100% trustworthy.

  • I have recently remembered some horrible sexual abuse as a child. I am forty now. I have struggled for 35 years and finally the wall came down and God revealed why. I saw Jesus. I heard the Voice of God. I am completely changed even after being saved at 18 (also 1991). My life is changed. I am free. I am having a hard time with losing weight. My family doesn’t believe me so they are not a part of my life anymore. This is the first holiday to experience without them. I am happily married with 4 kids. Praise God for His mercy!!

  • I thank God for this exert, it speaks volumes to my heart, especially the scripture that says sanctify the Lord in your heart…I believe before I can give an answer to the reason for my hope, I first have to set God apart from every thing else in my heart, then everything else will follow even my life style, thank you my sister for that great word, and yes God is real.

  • Just looking over the ups and downs of my life, I see God’s hand on me at every turn! He is very real and I love Him with all my heart. Your new book looks awesome too. blessings, Amy

  • I appreciate the reminder of the scripture, “always be ready to give defense to everyone who asks you a reason for the hope that is in you..”
God IS real – for all the points made in Kimberly’s writing. I know God is real because He has brought me through the many trials and crisis in my life and I have joy and peace that passes all understanding. God IS real: his creation from the smallest element of life not seen with the human eye reveals the intricacies of life. God is real because He speaks with me – though not audibly, but through circumstances, His word and His children. God IS real – the bible aligns with history, and science. God IS real because I feel His presence in my life and in my heart.

  • I know God is real because He is an integral part of my life. He lives inside me, within my heart. God is more real to me than any human I know and love.
