“God is my Teacher”

In volume 3 of the ''My God is Awesome'' book series, I wrote a devotion about how God is my Teacher. Because the Lord is a teacher, that means we are a student.

Ask yourself, "What kind of student am I in the Lord's classroom each day?''

  • Do I show up expectant, ready to learn?
  • Or do I search for ways to skip my classes?

I admit that some lessons are harder than others to learn. But it is the harder lessons that are usually the most valuable!

So we might as well show up in life's classroom with a humble, teachable spirit, ready to learn.

As I've mentioned before, I write first then edit later. If I wait to write until I can do it perfectly, I would never publish anything.

That is true with most things! See my draft below of "God is my Teacher."

God as my Teacher is one of His character traits I relate to most. After all, He gave me the Spiritual gift of teaching!

When I teach, I feel that I get a glimpse of God's burning desire for us to learn and to experience the blessings of His wisdom.

I am forever grateful for the opportunity to learn from Him each day.

Today’s word to describe God is “Teacher.”

Meditation

As disciples of Jesus, we commit to following His path, His teachings each day.

A disciple has the attitude of a learner, a teachable spirit.

Having a teachable spirit requires an attitude of humility, not pride.

Humility recognizes that you are in the presence of One greater than yourself.

You come to the Lord with a cup that needs filling, in recognition that He is the one who has what you need!

You also come to Him with a grateful heart, thankful that the Lord is willing to share what He has with you. He is generous.

The more you spend time with your Teacher, the more you see the world through His perspective. You began to reflect His character.

The Lord has the heart of a Teacher toward us. I believe it hurts the heart of God when we go through needless pain - all because we refuse to listen to our Teacher.

He desires that we experience life in abundance. He knows that He is the Source of life, and any life apart from Him is a counterfeit one.

One of the saddest scriptures in the Bible is Jeremiah 2:13:

For My people have committed two evils: They have forsaken Me, the fountain of living waters, And hewn themselves cisterns — broken cisterns that can hold no water."

The scripture is sad because the children of Israel were Spiritually thirsty, but forsook the only Source of water that never runs dry!

Instead, they made themselves a cistern that would run out of water eventually, leaving them worse off than they were before.

Thank you, Lord, for being our Source of living water, the place of abundance. Teach us to come to the knowledge of the truth!

We come to you with dry cups. Fill us up to overflow so that we have more than enough to benefit from Your wisdom and to share that wisdom with others.

We praise You, Lord, for being our loving, patient Teacher!
