The biggest issue we Christians can have in our walk with the Lord is forgetting the truths that He has revealed to us.
That is why He tells us to meditate on His word day and night. He knows that our memories are short and subject to deception!
Plus, He knows that meditation on His word changes our vision and sharpens our discernment.
Consider this story I heard a long time ago: The job of a Treasury agent is to identify counterfeit bills and keep them out of circulation.
You would think that their training program would focus on studying the various forms of counterfeit bills, right?
But no.
Instead, the Treasury agents study the TRUE dollar bill. Their goal is to know the real dollar bill so intimately that they can spot a fake a mile away.
As believers in Jesus, that is how we should operate our minds!
Know this: Our minds WILL occupy themselves (go to work) on something every day. The question to ask ourselves is: What is my mind working on right now?
We are creative beings – just like our Heavenly Daddy. Our minds are creating future results in our lives right now.
Speak this out loud now: ”My mind is my employee.”
Most people don’t realize this. So their minds are unemployed or underemployed, lacking vision and direction.
They just go with the flow…the default of this world, which leads to destruction and death.
But since you know now that your mind is your employee:
- Why not put your mind to work meditating on and practicing God’s truth rather rehearsing the enemy’s lies over and over?
- Why not occupy your mind with making our God-given dreams a reality each day rather than bowing down to your fears?
John 8:31-32 tells us:
Then Jesus said to those Jews who believed Him, “If you abide in My word, you are My disciples indeed. And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.”
So if living the truth sets you free, then living a lie puts you in slavery!
Let us meditate on the Lord’s truth so much that when the enemy tries to get us to believe and live a lie, we reject it outright.
May we as God’s people commit to living the truth so that we can finally experience the freedom and blessings that God has for us!
