Congratulations – You’re Rich!

Last night, I was watching this program about world hunger and they showed this little boy who was so frail. After my prayer time this morning, I got this thought: "Your house is a palace." My first response was, "No, it's not. It's nice but it is far from a palace!" I truly am rich! And so are you. God truly has supplied all of your needs according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus. It reminds me of this healing scripture from 1 Timothy 6:7-8:
Now godliness with contentment is great gain. For we brought nothing into this world, and it is certain we can carry nothing out. And having food and clothing, with these we shall be content.
I have plenty of clothing and food. God has supplied my need. He didn't promise me a T.V. or cell phone, or a house, or a car, or a computer, or vacations, or any of the other things that I have bought with the money he has given me in the past. Then I felt compelled to walk to the front door, and starting from there to walk through my house, seeing it as through the eyes of a little child who did not have food, shoes, adequate clothing and lived in a mud hut all his life. As I saw my house through his eyes, I felt a new sense of gratitude for what I have. So I realize two things. First, anything beyond food and clothing that God has given me is truly abundance. Everything that we have comes from Him. He only gave me the other stuff because of his great goodness. Personally, I wish I had had that perspective in the past. I would have been more grateful and not taken his blessings for granted. Secondly, it shows me how important it is to be a good steward of your resources. God owns everything - he just lets me manage it. With this perspective,  I certainly would have been wiser with how I spent the money he entrusted me with. So I ask you, are you being a wise steward with your riches? I urge you today to walk through your house or apartment and see it through the eyes of someone who may not have a place to stay. Look at your body through the eyes of someone who might be missing a limb, sight, or struggling with an illness that keeping them in bondage. Your body is worth 45 million dollars alone. Now hasn't God been good to you? Take a moment now and praise him for making you rich!
