My husband Mike and I belong to the Intercessory Prayer team at our church. On a prayer call once, our leader asked me to pray on the topic, “Honoring God During Challenging Times.”
Hard times can make us feel unstable because of the unknown. However, we gain confidence when we focus on what is known about God instead!
On the prayer call, I used a word list that describes God’s character, based on the scriptures, to help me pray with confidence.
Doing so inspired me to write about each of these words in a 3-part devotional series called ‘My God is Awesome.’
After all, Jesus is the Rock on which we build our lives. He keeps us steady during unstable times because Jesus is the same yesterday, today, and forever!

When you see that Comforter is part of God’s character, then you are confident in praying to the Lord for His comfort; If you note that God is a Counselor, then have assurance the Lord will answer your prayer for His guidance.
The Bible assures you in 1 John 5:14-15 why you can have confidence in prayer:
Now this is the confidence that we have in Him, that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us. And if we know that He hears us, whatever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we have asked of Him.”
