The enemy wants to keep you trapped in the hellish space between regret and fear.
You fear taking action (“what if…”), but then have regret over not taking action (“if only…”).
It’s a “no win” situation.
The enemy’s goal is to keep you stuck exactly where you are, wasting days, months and years, trapped on Someday Isle (as in “Some day I’ll get it done…”).
It’s time to get rescued from Someday Isle. Today is your day!
What keeps you trapped on Someday Isle is believing the enemy’s lies.
The image on the right shows you how to assess the thoughts you have.
To get free from sabotaging thoughts, use the AAA (Triple A) guideline:
- Awareness: Pay attention to the thoughts that enter your mind.
- Arrest: If you determine a thought is unproductive according to God’s word (this is when you use the THOUGHTS process), then do not agree with it; replace it with God’s truth.
Here is why this is important:
Many of us have experienced pain in our past. I have received messages from people who have suffered terrible things, like abuse, neglect, rape, or incest.
The Lord is able to heal all emotional wounds. Nothing is too hard for Him!
However, what the enemy wants is for the hurt person to nurse these hurts and use them as an excuse to practice destructive behavior.
He offers them false comfort with a high price tag.
As a result, the person ends up doing far more damage to themselves than the person who hurt them ever did.
The only way to break out of the cycle is to get a new identity in Christ as healthy, healed, and whole. A new identity requires new ways of thinking and acting.
- Agree: Mentally agree with what God’s word says and act according to that truth, not according to the lie.
Is this work? You bet it is!
The mental work you will do with the Take Back Your Temple program is far greater than any physical work you will do.
But when you have the mind of Christ and are led by the Spirit of God, you can do all things through Christ who strengthens you!
Be Blessed in Health, Healing, and Wholeness,

Taking Sabotaging Thoughts Captive may be one of my very favorite articles!!!! I have been praying 2 Corinthians 10:5 over my life for a year and this article gave me more insight and tools. To God be the Glory and thank you yet again Kim for listening to the Spirit’s lead.
You are welcome, Chris – all glory to God!
Not quite sure why I went do something to get rid of this unhealthy body. Am I lazy scared or both?
Hi Captora – thank you for your comment. Just curious…what is unhealthy about your body? While you can’t get rid of your body, you can do things that will improve its health. How does your body’s health impact your daily life, how you feel about yourself, what you are able to do, the influence you have for God’s kingdom? A follow-up question could be…are there unhealthy daily habits that are contributing to the lack of health in your body? These are the questions you need to start getting clear about first. Ask the Lord to illuminate the issue for you and He will.
Here is also an article I wrote about the issue about being ready to change: https://takebackyourtemple.com/christian-weight-loss-enough-enough/
I, too, am going to print this powerful word out…and refer to it frequently. It is EXACTLY the reminder / instruction / direction post I need on (what seems like) a daily basis. Oh, the potential good that could exist in the spaces surrounding Holy Spirit-led minds. Mmm-mmm-mmm. Abba, have Your way with us. Confound and stop the enemy’s insidious progress in our minds and our lands. In Jesus’ holy name…amen. (And thank you, Kimberly.)
Thanks for sharing truth from the word of God. As my heart is being softened by listening to the Holy Spirit these seeds of truth are beginning to take root in my heart and producing fruit. John 8:32
God bless, Tom from Ireland.
Just printed this out! This is going into my journal! Thanks for sharing!
This is GOLD. Spot on. Stuck between regret and fear, it’s so true. Thank you for sharing this! God is definitely in the process of renewing my mind and heart (He has been for awhile) but it seems like a daily, all-day battle a lot of days. Like I’m constantly catching myself in negative thought patterns and correcting them…I just want to stop thinking about it so much and for it to come naturally. I’m trying to “enjoy the process” but the process can be slow and frustrating lol
I greatly appreciate the process for renewing our thought pattern. For me, everyday is a uphill battle of the mind. The enemy of our soul has released so many demonic force until it’s a real challenge to keep my mind stayed on the Word of God, however, there’s nothing to hard for our God and I refuse to accept defeat.
